The best games for casual and serious play is always that which is easy to grasp, learn and understand. Ultimately, it starts to grow on you and you try to learn some more. Like most competitions, games which are so easy to learn and hard to master are very fun indeed. Added to the mix are those games which have a certain ritual to it. Like the chalk cube for the pool cue stick, or the riffling of cards and chips in a game of poker, these small rites or ceremonies heighten enjoyment of the game.

The game of darts is no different. There’s the dartboard, and the scoring, which is easy to understand once explained properly and demonstrated in a game or two, and the simplicity of the tools and equipment needed.

The ritual really starts with where you learned the game. For most people, this would be a bar, or a pub. And the simple tools are just the dartboard and darts. With the merry making and the round of drinks, the game gets into levels of difficulty very fast indeed. It might get harder while drinking, but it also gets to be a lot of fun as the evening goes on.

Dartboard darts, are nothing else but darts weighted on one end and a flight on the other. Getting serious about it, players start off buying regular darts, and then graduate to assembled darts, with pins, body and flight sold and bought separately. You don’t need to buy expensive equipment, as most dartboard darts can and do last a lifetime, with proper use.
